Fluffy, smoothy, creamy, and zesty, Whipped Avocado "Hummus" is a fun twist on a classic favorite.

Avocados, you sly devils. They can spend DAYS lounging firm and unchanged on the countertop with the other members of your bright green posse. Then, in the blink of an eye, you join together and turn smooshy soft with a dark hue. Can anyone else out there relate?
With summer in full swing, our little green friends are ripening faster than we can eat them which means it's time to throw together our favorite fluffy dip! Whipped Avocado "Hummus" is the chip-and-dip-lovers dream! It's light, creamy, flavorful and is also perfect spread on sandwiches or dolloped on top of pasta. There's no wrong way to love it. Did we mention it's also ready in just 5 minutes?

WHAT YOU NEED TO MAKE THIS RECIPE
This recipe comes together with just a handful of everyday ingredients.
Avocados
The obvious stars of the show. Ripe avocados are preferred as they will blend best and make the creamiest dip.
Garbanzo Beans/Chickpeas
Beans add that classic "hummus" texture and add fiber and protein to our dip. If you don't have chickpeas on hand, Northern White Beans, Cannellini, or Navy Beans will also work.
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
In our opinion, olive oil is an essential ingredient in any good dip. It adds flavor, creaminess, and protective phytochemicals. Don't have EVOO on hand? Avocado oil is a great swap.
Lemon Juice
Acidity adds a tasty pop to the dip. We've made this with bowl fresh lemon juice and lime and honestly can't pick a favorite. We typically use whichever we have on hand!
Garlic
Where garlic goes, we follow. We love bold, garlicky dips but for a milder taste you can swap with garlic powder. We recommend using ½ teaspoon garlic powder in place of the garlic clove in this recipe.
Salt & Pepper
A touch of salt and pepper is all you need to make this dip shine. We happen to LOVE pepper and add freshly cracker pepper on top of our dip just prior to serving. If watching your sodium you can omit added salt altogether and add an extra squeeze of citrus!
Water
While not necessary, a splash or two of water helps thin our dip and make it fluffy. We like to add a teaspoon at a time until we reached our desired consistency.

Avocados and chickpeas are two of my favorite foods/toppings for a salad. Never thought of putting them together. Me and my roommates made it for a little pick me up this weekend and not only was it delicious it was quick, easy, and super attainable for us college students! Will definitely be making again, thank you!
I love avocados, so I definitely would like to try this recipe. I have recently been trying different types of hummus, but I haven't seen an avocado recipe until now. It seems like it is very easy to make and looks delicious. I can't wait to try this!
Had this for Christmas Eve. My Sister In Law made it. It is light and is one of dips you want to keep eating - addicting!
Thank you so much for this great feedback! Love to hear it was enjoyed.
