Golden Spiced Granola is bold, vibrant, and the perfect blend of sweet and spice.

Golden Spiced Granola is a mix of warming spices and a touch of sweetness!

By now you've likely heard about the growing popularity surrounding the spice turmeric. And for good reason! Known for its characteristically golden hue, it has gained recent popularity among the health and wellness world. Emerging evidence points to turmeric as a powerful bioactive compound with potential health benefits ranging from anti-inflammatory to antioxidant properties. That's a lot for a unassuming, mild-flavored pantry item! We wanted to find more ways to mix this spice into our everyday eats, besides our cool-weather favorite, curry. Thus was born this Golden Spiced Granola! Crunchy, chewy, lightly spiced and perfectly sweet, this nutrient-packed mix makes the perfect addition to yogurt, trail mixes, or, directly inserted into your mouth. We aren't here to judge.

What You'll Need

Oats
Rolled oats are the base for this granola and give that irresistible crunchy/chewy texture you love.

Nuts and Seeds
The sky is yours when it comes to your nut/seed picks. We love the pecan, pumpkin, and sunflower trio but there's not right or wrong way to go! Mix it up every time you make it!

Oil
Coconut oil lends a perfect flavor pairing to this spiced granola. Not into coconut? Any mild tasting oil such as avocado or walnut makes a fantastic sub.

Liquid Sweetener
When it comes to granola, where oil goes, syrup follows in a 1:1 ratio. Maple syrup is great because it adds sweet without an overtly distinct flavor. Honey and agave syrup can also be used with great success. It's important to note that this granola is touched with sweetness - not overtly sweet. For those who enjoy a sweeter granola, feel free to adjust syrup per preference.

Spice Blend
Turmeric, cinnamon, ginger, and black pepper are essential for this golden mix. Together they create depth and rich flavor, not to mention a stunning color! Why black pepper? Black pepper has been shown to aid in the absorption of curcumin, the beneficial compound found in turmeric known for its health properties.

How To Make

This granola comes together in just a few simple steps.

Step 1
To start, we combine our oats, nuts, and seeds. Is using unsalted nuts, also add a few pinches of salt.

Any mixture of nuts and seeds can be used to make the mix all your own!

Step 2
Next, we combine our spice mix.

Turmeric lends vibrancy to dishes and is known for a range of potential health benefits.

Step 3
Once mixed, we combine our dry spice mix with melted oil and maple syrup to create our spiced syrup coating.

Coconut oil adds a wonderful flavor to the mix, but any preferred oil can be used.

Step 4
Next, we combine our dry granola mix with our spiced syrup and stir well to evenly coat.

Even prior to baking you'll get a glimpse at how colorful this granola is!

Step 5
Finally, it's time to bake! Granola is done when lightly (extra) golden and lightly crisp. Note: granola will continue to dry out as it cools.

This granola makes the perfect topper for yogurt, ice cream, mixed into trail mix, and enjoyed straight out of the jar!
